Ringing Remembers

Ringing Remembers
Sunday 11th November, the Centenary of the Armistice. At St Buryan the bell rang half-muffled from 9:30am until 10am as usual before the Remembrance Service. At 11am our great Tenor bell, St Solomon, was tolled by Tower Captain Chris Venn to mark the two minute silence at the 'Act of Remembrance'. Then, at 12:30pm there was a period of open ringing by St Buryan’s bell ringers, including our two new Ringing Remembers recruits and a lapsed ringer who has re-started with us, to mark the Centenary of the Armistice and to honour the memory of the 1,400 bell ringers who died in the war.

Our Two new ringers at St Buryan, Sam and her daughter, along with our Tower Captain, Chris Venn, learning to ring in the first photo, and ringing on Remembrance Sunday in the second photo.
