Cornwall Council’s Archives and Cornish Studies Service is made up of Cornwall Record Office (in Truro) and the Cornish Studies Library (in Redruth).

Together, they are home to hundreds of thousands of manuscripts, maps, photographs and books related to Cornwall's history. The service is dedicated to celebrating and promoting this written and printed heritage and ensuring that it is well preserved and available so that individuals and communities, now and in the future, have access to these fantastic collections.

For detailed information about each location, including opening hours, please see Visit the Cornish Studies Library or Visit Cornwall Record Office

You can search our online catalogues to see what is available before you visit.

We are delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded us an £11.7 million grant to build Kresen Kernow, Cornwall's new archive centre.  The centre will bring together Cornwall Record Office, the Cornish Studies Library, the Cornwall and Scilly Historic Environment Record, and the world's largest collection of documents and manuscripts related to Cornwall, under one roof. Further information about the project can be found on the Kresen Kernow - Cornwall's new archive centre page.
